IE Duplicate Characters Bug

The following is an example of the IE duplicate characters bug in action. However, unlike on the Position Is Everything page, there are no comments between the floated elements. In fact, there is not a single comment in this entire document. I could be wrong, but the trigger appears to be the space available to the floated elements. When the window is narrow or wide enough the effect disappears. If you can't see the characters "e", ".", and "d" following each <input>, experiment with the width of the window. On my machine, making the container 550px wide triggers the effect (do this). This page has been greatly simplified—the bug was originally encountered when designing this page, where it seems to be easier to trigger. The effect was observed with Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 on Windows XP Pro while experimenting with generic form CSS.
