A note on fonts

Your ability to view a wide variety of characters is dependent (obviously enough) on the fonts avaiable on your computer, as well as (somewhat counterintuitively) on your web browser.  The second constraint is because not all fonts contain all characters.  Good web browsers are capable of substituting a character from another font when the selected font does not contain it.  Firefox, in particular, does this well.  Internet Explorer, however, does not—it is dependent on each character being avaiable in the specified font.  For this reason it is recommended that Firefox be used to view this site on Windows.
